Up Market Cashew Nuts Packaging Design

Triangular and unique in structural form, this packaging design is a three-sided design, each side tells of the unique selling point of the product. Namely – premium quality, 100% natural and cholesterol free. Each of the benefits are graphically created in a way that it looks like it is on a label – to make it look like it is branded and uniquely for up market consumers. Furhtermore, to create and enhance the up maret look and feel, a rich dark red and silver foil is used for the packaging.

Sainbury’s SO Organic Salad

Major UK retailer Sainbury’s is releasing its SO organic wild rocket salad in new biodegradable packaging. The packaging is made using Amcor NaturePlus compostable film.

The new packaging is well designed with simple and crisp graphic design highlighting the freshness of the product. Very well done.

“Food packaging is very important to our customers and it influences their buying decisions, Amcor’s NaturePlus compostable film helps us to meet our customers needs and our sustainability goals without compromising on shelf life and seal performance requirements,” Sainbury’s packaging manager said.

Ecolean Packaging

eres an interesting new packaging concept from the Swedish company Ecolean. The packaging is based on a patented material they call Calymer.

Made from 40% calcium carbonate (natural chalk) the material is similar to that of an eggshell. It is then combined with polymers which serve as the binding agent and yield the final product.

The flexible packaging is approved for food use in Europe and the company released a study available on its web site indicating their packaging is more efficient than other dairy packaging as it reduces food waste and materials required.

Ecolean is designed primarily for the food industry. Its competitors include traditional plastic dairy packaging and some of the Tetra Pak line of products.

Ecolean says its packaging can be recycled at end of life like a traditional plastic (PP or PE) or incinerated for disposal.

Packaging for freshness

Each mix is carefully double packaged for long term storage. The exterior pouch is constructed of a double layer Mylar material. Mylar protects the product against oxygen and light, both of which accelerate the deterioration of food. The inner bags are made of heavy duty three or four-mil plastic. All products are vacuum packed. It costs more to package this way but it is necessary to maximize the life of your foods.
